The GEO-S120 broadband seismometer is a product rely on years of experience in designing high precision, low noise, and reliable seismic equipment. Based on a very sensitive capacitive transducer that monitors the position of the seismic bass and a feedback loop that generates signal output proportional to velocity with extended bandwidth 120sec to 80Hz. The instrument has low self-noise so it is ideal for local, regional and teleseismic earthquake recording. No mass lock is required and supports automatic mass centering. The sensor provides calibration input and communication via serial port. The GEO-s120 design is exceptionally versatile, ideal for both direct bury and vault use cases. The seismometer casing is made from hard anodized aluminum or stainless steel.

When combined with our GEOthree or GEOsix datalogger the GEO-S120 provides a true broadband station with low overall power consumption, providing an ideal solution for rapid response applications that require high-resolution data. The GEO-S60 version of this seismometer has equal specifications but the output velocity response is flat between 60sec to 90Hz.

The S-20 near broad band seismic sensor

The S-20 seismometer is a three-component velocity output near broad band seismic sensor. The design is based on the electronic velocity feedback which is applied to single coil low period geophone. The frequency bandwidth is extended from 50Hz, down to 20sec. 

Two sensor types are provided, a borehole seismometer type and a surface seismometer type.

The borehole type is housed into a 80mm diameter casing while the surface type unit’s diameter is 130mm. The cable length is typically 10 meters. It can be extended to 100 meters or more if required.

No mass-lock or centering is required that makes an easy connection with the digitizer. The settling time of the unit is very short, only one minute. Sensitivity is 1500V/m/sec (differentially) thus providing a very sensitive seismic sensor. A test line is also provided for calibration and testing.

The sensor is ideal for regional earthquake seismology and low frequency grumbling of volcanoes as well as for aftershock studies.

The S-100 wide band seismic sensor (MK3 version)

The S-100 MK3 (third generation) is a three-component velocity output seismic sensor. The design is based on the force-balance principle, thus using three simple geophone elements, the frequency bandwidth is extended from 90Hz, down to 0.1Hz. The default cable length between the sensor casing and the electronics box is approximately 20 meters but it can be extended up to150 meters.

The sensing elements are housed in the same 50mm casing, therefore a solid waterproof sensor is suitable for installation into boreholes where the noise is much less than the surface. The elements are oriented according to the 3-axes principle. A dot mark, incised on the plastic cover of the case that indicates the direction of the North direction. Surface mount sensor package is also available.

The sensor is totally controlled by an advanced signal conditioner circuit which supplies current to the geophones forcing them to a constant vibration at different frequencies. The signal conditioner circuit is fully protected against over voltage, opposite power supply polarity and lightning inductive currents. When inactive, it enters the “power-off” mode in order to reduce power consumption of the system.

The S-100 is a three-component velocity equivalent output seismic sensor. The unit is ideal for local and regional seismicity and microseismicity monitoring as well as, for induced micro-seismicity monitoring.

The design is based on the force-balance principle, Using three geophone elements, the bandwidth is extended to a lower frequency of the original geophone’s natural frequency. Actually three generations of the S-100 sensor have been implemented. Several low and upper corner frequencies provided through different senor configurations. Thus, 10s, 5s, 2s, and 1s low cut frequency corner is available as well as 50, 80 and 98 Hz high cut frequency corner. The sensitivity is 1000V/m/sec for the Mk1 version while it has been increased to 1500V/m/sec for the Mk2 and Mk3 versions.

The surface type has similar characteristics to the borehole type. No mass-lock or centering is required that makes easy the connection with the digitizer. The settling time of the unit is very short, only thirty seconds. Sensitivity is 1500V/m/sec (differentially) thus providing a very sensitive seismic unit. A test line is also provided for calibration and testing.

The C-100 seismic sensor

The C-100 is a three-component velocity equivalent output seismometer. The sensor consisted basically from three geophone elements, one per axis. When combined with our force-balance electronics (third generation), the bandwidth is extended to 10sec – 98Hz, and the sensitivity is increased to 1500V/m/sec.

The seismometer electronics are integrated to GEOThree digitizer and provide sensitivity 1500V/m/sec. The default cable length is approximately 20 meters but it can be extended up to150 meters. A dot sign, engraved on the plastic cover of the case, indicates the direction of each axis. A smart elastic clamping ensures excellent coupling with the borehole at any depth. Optionally, surface mount installation is available

The S-200 seismic sensor

This type of sensor has been designed for microseismic events recording during hydraulic fracturing reservoir experiments. The sensor body has been designed in order to house double geophone strings at each axis. The orientation follows the 3-axis principle. This sensor has an external diameter of 50mm allowing it to be installed into small and shallow boreholes, hence reducing the cost of installation. Using single geophone element per axis, the electronic noise floor becomes a limiting factor for this type of acquisition. Increasing the gain and minimizing the noise floor of the sensor give us the ability to record even smaller events.

GEOtiny is a compact miniature digital seismometer which integrates three seismic and three acceleration channels. The sensor technolgy combines optical electronis for the implementation of the mass position transducer and force balance feedback to deliver wide band frequency response. With the largest dynamic range available among seismic sensors, the sensor eliminates the need for multiple sensors to maximize the signal capture in terms of seismic amplitude and bandwidth.
